Ancient Trees & Terrafirma

Add caption
"Terrafirma pottery" is hand made in the heart of Manhattan, NY by the lovely Ellen Evans... You are sure to have unique treasures because she changes the designs, patterns, colors yearly and signs and dates each piece personaly... I LOVE her Masterpieces and never once has anyone witnessed my table that did not search the web to purchase something for themselves... AND you must buy them on sight because they "will be gone" tomorrow and then you can only dream of them... This cup and saucer is incredible. It's larger than most,  I call it my Mug cup and the men in my house GRAB for this one first... I LOVE it because it has the size of a mug with the more refine cup&saucer design (The BEST of both worlds)... "Thank you Ellen Evans for all my treasures"...
Terrafirma Pottery by Ellen Evans is "magic to a tablesetting"...
Antique English Majolica Green Pitcher with TREES lining a drive... It has the "Knicks of Time" but I always see them as adventures they've encountered in their long lives. I truly wish they could tell me their stories...
This little vintage hand-blown "Amber Hobnail Pitcher" is a favorite of mine. The color sparkles and casts the most brilliant glow of GOLD on it's surroundings...
This Bronze Frog is SUCH a hard worker... He seems to show up in all the right places and has SO many talents... I have seen him illuminate a Dinner for two with candlelight, or hold posies at a luncheon. He has even held business cards on my desk for important meetings , AND of course held assortments of munchies(preferably chocolate in content)... "I truly don't know WHAT I would do without him"!!!
The Antique Copper Kettle is from Finland... It's handmade and appears to be "EONS OLD", therefore I feel a bit shy of using it for it's intended and have transformed it into more of a decorative piece... I keep a liner in it and use it as a Biscuit Jar...
"Oh, Little guy you've EARNED a break, go have some tea"...
One of my little French Limoges Boxes, in front of two Mighty Books... They lend the ambiance of structure to my setting... two MUST READS, different, BUT the same. One "The Forest" takes place over centuries in the forests of England(if you love nature and would like it to stay unchanged, this is an incredibly important read)...Two, is important to me, It's about the Giant Redwoods of northern California, what an unbelievable wonder of our world they are(This book is different, fun, and knowledgeable too)... OK, I live in Connecticut, WHAT is my tie to these books... My LOVE of TREES, and what they have witnessed in their lifetime and the families they have given homes(animals, birds AND us)... I have posted a few pictures of a few trees in my forest, These are "My Trees and I love them"...

Climbing Hydrangea creeping up one of my Shagbark Hickory Trees...
Twin "Shagbark Hickory Trees"...
All exterior trim in my home is Hand-carved and pieced into place by us from ancient redwood from the "Burgundy Staves from Taylor Winery of New York State"... They sold off their giant redwood staves and we bought them... as we carved each piece the smell was incredible and had us "Craving Cheese and crackers"!!!

Lovely entry, as always...

Never seen anything like that hard-working frog!

My husband the woodworker, would love to carve a piece of ancient redwood stave, too. He loves all things wood and carving. :-)

Thanks for sharing Ellen Evans' Terrafirma Pottery. It is truly special. I'm in love with your frog. What a treasure. As a child, I remember driving through the giant redwood tree in California...a lasting impression, indeed. Cherry Kay

I love that working frog! How unique. You create such interesting vignettes. What I love is that they are so different from my seashells, crystal and silver and yet I love them just the same. Your always look as if they belong in a wonderful library setting.
